A Historic Tour of
Zion Church of the City of Baltimore

On Saturday November 13th, 2021, the Eric W. Gritsch Memorial Fund held our first in-person event for 2021, an informative tour of Zion Church by lifetime member and experienced tour guide, Bernie Penner.

Established in 1755 by German immigrants and still conducting services in German and English, Zion has a rich history in the city of Baltimore and can boast one of the earliest and most architecturally interesting buildings in the city. We learned about the history of the congregation, its learned pastors, early school house, library, Adlersaal, gardens, and its importance during two World Wars as a place of German-American cooperation.
