The Second Annual Gritsch Memorial Symposium was held on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the George Peabody Library in Baltimore. The participants attending came from the Baltimore area, Western Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia to hear the speakers present lectures on World Ecumenism, a topic dear to the heart of the late Rev. Dr. Eric W. Gritsch.
Speakers Thomas Bremer from the University of Munster, Germany and James Buckley from Loyola University, Baltimore enthralled their listeners with ideas on this topic. They discussed the state of ecumenism among Roman Catholics, the Orthodox, and Protestants in the 21st Century in the United States and Europe with an emphasis of Ukraine.
Peabody Curator Paul Espinosa introduced the George Peabody Library and recent aquisition of a rare (Philipp) Melancthon Broadside publication from the 1500's.
The Library was a perfect setting for the academic gathering and the refreshments especially the home-made cakes were appreciated by those in attendance.
Following the event the speakers and special guests were hosted for dinner in the home of Bonnie Brobst, the widow of Dr. Gritsch.
The Board of the Gritsch Memorial Fund thanks the excellent speakers, the Peabody Library, and all those guests who supported the event.
